Why we use linux? all back to your computer needs. If you only do simple things like browsing internet or need office application then linux is the best for you. You will get everything you need with free. But, remember if you are not sure about your computer hardware (PC, Laptop, Printer or scanner) you have at home or at office ask computer expert before installing Linux on your laptop or PC. Simple advice from me is use Linux Live CD, like Linux Ubuntu Live CD then you can know what is the best OS for your PC or laptop computer.
